Mexican Flamenco Guitarist
Manuel Alonso es un guitarrista flamenco de toque moderno abierto a incorporar diversas músicas del mundo y mezclarlas entre sí, esto le otorga un característico sonido y comprensión de las diferentes tradiciones musicales de Iberoamérica. Forma parte de los artistas flamencos formados en Cataluña, siendo el primer mexicano en obtener la titulación superior oficial de flamenco en todo el mundo por la Escuela Superior de Música de Cataluña ESMUC.
Mexicano de nacimiento, arraigado en Barcelona desde hace más de una década, y residente de Andorra, Manuel Alonso inició sus estudios formales en la Escuela Nacional de Música de la UNAM (México) con los guitarristas Juan Carlos Laguna y Alejandro Salcedo, obteniendo el grado profesional en guitarra clásica. Paralelamente comienza con la guitarra flamenca de la mano del guitarrista Rubén Díaz.
En Barcelona ha profundizado su formación en la tradición flamenca con los reconocidos guitarristas Rafael Cañizares, Juan Manuel Cañizares y Juan Ramón Caro obteniendo el Grado Superior de Música en Guitarra Flamenca por la Escuela Superior de Música de Cataluña (ESMUC). En el festival Internacional de Guitarra de Córdoba, España, se presentó en el Gran Teatro de Córdoba y recibió clases del guitarrista Manolo Sanlúcar y del compositor, guitarrista y pianista brasileño Egberto Gismonti. Por otro lado, su inquietud y en la búsqueda de más conocimientos que nutran a su formación se ha adentrado en el mundo de la composición, el jazz, la improvisación y la armonía moderna de la mano del compositor, arreglista y trompetista Lluís Vergés y el guitarrista Vicenç Solsona.
Ha participado en diferentes producciones discográficas como intérprete, compositor y arreglista para diferentes artistas en andorra, México, España y Alemania principalmente. En el año 2009 presenta la producción de su primer trabajo discográfico personal con el álbum Manuel Alonso Guitarra Iberoamerricana. En 2015 crea el trio Latin Stride Flamenco con el pianista Jordi Barceló grabando un álbum con el mismo nombre. En 2018 participa en el álbum La Bien Pagá de la cantante mexicana Georgina Rubio como productor artístico, arreglista y guitarrista. Toda su discografía está disponible en todas las plataformas digitales.
Como autor, arreglista y adaptador cuenta con seis adaptaciones para guitarra i violín de obras del compositor navarro Pablo de Sarasate. Este trabajo fue publicado por la Editorial Piles en el año 2021.
En el aspecto pedagógico, Alonso ha impartido clases en distintas instituciones a nivel internacional y local, destacando su participación en Master Classes en el Conservatorio Nacional de Música (México), Janáčkova Akademie Múzických Umění v Brně JAMU (República Checa), la Facultad de Artes de la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (Argentina), Lasalle School of Arts (Singapur) y Swarnaboomi Academy of Music SAM (India), además de ser co-director y fundador del Centre Artístic Musical La Grandàlia, primer y único centro de enseñanza de la guitarra flamenca en Andorra.
Ha participado en giras y festivales de gran prestigio en México, España, Andorra, Alemania, Austria, Francia, República Checa, Suiza, Italia, Grecia, Malta, Malasia, Singapur, India, Líbano, Etiopía, Emiratos Árabes y actúa regularmente en escenarios de Barcelona y Andorra.

Mexican Flamenco Guitarist
Manuel Alonso is a flamenco guitarist with a modern touch, open to incorporate different world music and mix them together, this gives him a characteristic sound and understanding of the different musical traditions of Ibero-America. He is part of the flamenco artists trained in Catalonia, being the first Mexican to obtain the official degree of flamenco in the world by the Superior School of Music of Catalonia (ESMUC).
Mexican by birth, rooted in Barcelona for almost twenty years and resident of Andorra, Manuel Alonso began his formal studies at the National School of Music of the National Univerity of Mexico (UNAM) with the teachers Juan Carlos Laguna and Alejandro Salcedo, obtaining the Professional Degree in classical guitar. At the same time, he begins with flamenco guitar by the hand of the guitar player Rubén Díaz.
In Barcelona he has deepened his training in the flamenco tradition with the renowned guitarists Rafael Cañizares, Juan Manuel Cañizares and Juan Ramón Caro, obtaining the Higher Degree in Music in Flamenco Guitar from the Escuela Superior de Música de Cataluña (ESMUC) in 2010. At the festival Internacional de Guitarra from Córdoba, Spain, he performed at the Gran Teatro de Córdoba and received classes from the guitarist Manolo Sanlúcar and the Brazilian composer, guitarist and pianist Egberto Gismonti. On the other hand, his restlessness and in the search for more knowledge that will nurture his training has entered the world of composition, jazz, improvisation and modern harmony at the hands of the composer, arranger and trumpeter Lluís Vergés and the guitarist Vicenç Solsona.
He has participated in different record productions as a performer, composer and arranger for different artists in Mexico, Spain, Andorra and Germany. In 2009 he presented the production of his first personal album with the album Manuel Alonso Guitarra Iberoamerricana. In 2015 he created the Latin Stride Flamenco trio with the pianist Jordi Barceló and recording an album with the same name. In 2018 he participated in the album La Bien Pagá by the singer Georgina Rubio as an artistic producer, arranger and guitarist. His entire discography is available on all digital platforms.
As author, arranger and adapter, he has six adaptations for guitar and violin of works by the Navarrese composer Pablo de Sarasate. This work was published by Editorial Piles in 2021.
He has participated in tours and prestigious festivals in Mexico, Spain, Andorra, Germany, Austria, France, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Malta, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Lebanon, Ethiopia, United Arab Emirates and he regularly performs on stages of Barcelona and Andorra.
